I was in the process of writing a one star review based on it not having any discernable sound. I tried it one last time upright, using the magnet on a metal surface, and It was only then that it made any real sound. Laying flat on a table did not work. Glad I did not have to return it. It looks good~ (If the zero is centered it rings a little clearer)The ringer for time's up is too soft ! Can barely be heard.Great aqua/green color, well designed. The bonus is I didn’t realize it was magnetic. It attaches to the backsplash of my stainless steel stove so it’s super easy to turn and read.I purchased this unit to use as a timer for grilling. It is loud enough for me to hear and accurate as well. I would recommend it.This is a great timer and the students and I can check as the time goes down.A great-looking timer -- it looks like it belongs in a 50's diner. It rings for about 3-4 seconds and isn't super loud, but you can hear it fine from a couple rooms away. Nice strong magnet. This fits in the palm of my hand. Solid, cute and just the right size. I got this because I can’t hear my oven timer if I am in another room.I carry it to my living room when I put something in to bake.Very happy with purchase.1/31/2020 I own one of these in black I purchased from somewhere else with a larger magnet circumference on the back although the magnetic power appears the same. It solidly adheres to the refrigerator and seems to require approximately 5 pounds of force to remove it. I panicked and was saddened when my black kitchen timer was made inoperable by an act of cruelty. I had two of these overnighted, they were out of the black ones, my broken black one is still attached to my fridge but no longer is able to keep time. I may eventually take it to a watchmaker for a repair. The optimum number of these per fridge would be three in my opinion. I could easily get three going at once what with several Aromas and a pressure cooker going? How is this possible with digital appliances? Well, my Austrian pressure cooker cooks dry pasta al dente in one minute with a quick manual release, but the minimum I can set its timer to is 2 minutes for example. To steam spinach perfectly it can be anywhere from 2 to 4 minutes yet my 2 Aromas (I am married and it takes 2 Aromas to steam enough spinach for my spouse and I.) have a minimum time setting of 5 minutes, hence yet another timer is needed. And so forth. My ice cream makers chime is too soft to be heard if I am busy elsewhere so these SUPER RAUCOUS, old alarm sound timers are perfect. Yes, I could use a digital device for this task, but I just find these old style manual timers to be quicker for certain tasks. Just a quick spin and they set, quicker than grabbing a phone-picking out an alarm application, etc., especially with flour covered hands while making homemade pizza.-Julie SandsDoesn’t ring. Looks nice but useless.
