I like the design of this set but you need to be aware of how easily bent the handles are. Bent several handles just holding steak still while cutting it. Minor rust started showing up about a 18 months in on a couple knives, with it always being run through the dishwasher. Buffed and polished rust out with stainless steel cleaner. Another year or so in and I came back to this to see what I paid because I need to either get another set to replace the rusted pieces, or decide to start over with a different manufacturer. I mean sure it is not a great set from a quality company, but for the money I did expect it to hold up better, and for the "stainless steel" to be stainless and not start peeling off the core.Update: It turns out my husband had changed the type of dishwasher soap we used and THAT is what caused the tarnishing. We switched back and there's no more tarnishing and no more hand-washing so I am eating crow and have upped the rating from 1 star to 5. We're still pretty disappointed in how many knicks and dings there were in the product but we overall like this set a lot!Original review: Out of the box these had scratches but I figured, no big deal. I know we can be tough on silverware what with the eating and all, so I decided to keep them. Would have given a 5 star review based on looks, even with the scratches.Unfortunately, after only a week, we realized we CANNOT put these in the dishwasher. They don't get clean in there at all. We can even put clean spoons in and they come out covered in grime. Not sure why, as this didn't happen with our last set of silverware. We have to hand wash these to keep the smudging at bay.Save your money and spend a little more on something more quality. Lesson learned.I was pleasantly surprised at the value I received on such a sturdy product..I needed a 12 place setting for forks, teaspoons and salad forks. I love the pattern since it was a similar pattern I had many years ago. I wish the knives had been more like a regular bread and butter style since I have a very expensive set of steak knives. The overall weight of the set is pleasing, it feels like you have an actual fork, spoon, knife in hand instead of a thin plastic feeling tiny prong fork. I use the soup spoons for serving vegetables since I live alone and don't need large servings. Great buy, very happy with Reed and Barton once again. May be able to actually keep this set intact now that children are all grown. This is a beautiful set of silverware and I am happy with the purchase. The hammered handles look good with my other kitchen utensils. For the price the silverware set was worth it but if I could change one thing it would be how the utensils feel in your hand. They seem slightly thin. I have handled fine dining restaurant silverware and you can tell how high the quality is but also how expensive it is. So that is my only gripe. It is a great buy for the price but if want to impress dinner guest you'll have to spend a little more.Wonderful flatware set. Elegant, shiny and great feel - debating on buying another set for a larger group of guests - can sincerely recommend.I was expecting to get some really thin utensils but these are nice thick steal utensils you can scoop ice cream without bending them and they look nice to. I bought the matching serving set because I like them so muchGood weight. Bought this as an extra set for picnics on the patio and it's perfect for the price!Ils ne sont pas trop pesant. Après quelques lavages au lave-vaisselle, ils sont encore beaux.Loved this set - lightweight and good to look at also.
